At Headway City College Ja-Ela, a trusted British Council Partner Centre for over 15 years, our Cambridge Starters program (Power Up 2) is designed for children aged 6 and above who already have some English knowledge and are ready to use it more actively.
This 12-month course develops stronger vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills while preparing students for the Cambridge A1 Starters exam. Parents looking for English classes for kids value this level because it blends spoken English for kids with exam preparation. Children practice real communication for school, home, and everyday life, gaining confidence step by step. Families join us not only from Ja-Ela but also from Kandana, Wattala, Seeduwa, and Negombo.
What Children Will Learn
- Speaking & Listening – short dialogues, describing pictures, role plays
- Everyday Vocabulary – school subjects, hobbies, body parts, clothes, places in town
- Grammar Basics – using verbs in the present tense, asking and answering questions, describing with adjectives
- Reading & Writing – learning to read short texts and write simple sentences
