Headway City College (HCC), a Platinum Partner Centre of the British Council, hosted the HCC Awards 2025 at the elegant Golden Star Beach Hotel, Negombo, marking another milestone in the college’s dedication to advancing English language education in Sri Lanka.
The ceremony brought together over 500 students, parents, and distinguished guests to celebrate the achievements of learners who successfully completed Cambridge English examinations — including Young Learners English Tests (YLE Starters, Movers, Flyers), KET, PET, FCE, CAE, and the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) for educators.
Honouring Academic Dedication and Global Standards
The HCC Awards 2025 recognised the commitment, consistency, and performance of students following the internationally benchmarked Cambridge English Assessment framework. Learners from multiple HCC centres received certificates endorsed by the University of Cambridge, acknowledging their success across the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Special guests representing the British Council, University of Cambridge, SLIIT, and PickaBook graced the occasion, commending HCC’s contribution to nurturing English proficiency and international qualifications among Sri Lankan students. Their presence reinforced the strong partnerships that have made HCC a trusted leader in English language education.

For many students, this celebration marked more than an academic milestone — it symbolised a journey of personal growth, confidence, and global readiness. The Cambridge English pathway, from YLE to Advanced, continues to form the foundation of HCC’s curriculum, empowering learners of all ages to reach international standards in English communication.
Teachers who completed the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) were also recognised for their professional excellence and dedication to maintaining the teaching quality expected of a British Council Platinum Partner Centre. Their efforts ensure that HCC classrooms remain interactive, student-centred, and aligned with the latest global teaching methodologies.
