Headway City College (HCC) officially launched its collaboration with PickaBook Sri Lanka, introducing a free reading and public speaking initiative designed to reignite the love of reading among children and young learners. The launch marks another milestone in HCC’s commitment to nurturing confident, imaginative, and expressive students across Ja-Ela, Kandana, Seeduwa, Pamunugama, and Wattala.
This collaboration brings a refreshing dimension to English learning by focusing not only on academic reading but also on the joy of exploration through books. Through engaging sessions inspired by PickaBook’s innovative model, HCC students are encouraged to read for pleasure, think creatively, and communicate their ideas confidently in English.

The initiative was launched in partnership with PickaBook Sri Lanka, an organization renowned for its mission to “change the world, one page at a time.” It aims to build stronger reading habits among Sri Lankan youth while enhancing essential life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and public speaking.
At HCC, these activities are seamlessly integrated into the college’s academic environment. Students are invited to read, summarize, and present their favorite stories, strengthening both language fluency and presentation confidence.
